Christ and light mean hope!.

by Toni Star

Whenever and wherever there is light, darkness and doom are destroyed.  Ever notice how everything looks so much better in the light?  When a person is ill, darkness always adds to feelings of negativity and gloom.  But, as soon as someone turns on a light or lights a candle, the fear is gone.

The same is true with the word, Christ.  He is light.  The very mention of his name means light, brightness and positive things.  When one focuses on Christ, no matter what is going on in his or her life, especially if everything looks bad, talking and reading about Christ and the many miracles and deeds he performed, and how he wants only the best for everyone, actually forces one –especially a believer---to know that everything will be alright.  For this to happen, faith and belief in His powers and who He is, must be achieved.

No matter how dark the forces are in your life, hope can be found with the light of Jesus Christ.  In him, there is no darkness, no gloom---only light!

I saw Christ and his light when my husband was critically ill about three years ago.  He had a terrible case of the flu, which led to an immune disorder.  As the weeks went by in the cold months of 2001, my husband got weaker and weaker.  It looked like an answer would not be found.

After several months and many treatments a colonospy doctor found that my husband had developed an immune disorder, brought on by a food allergy.  Two major tests: colonospy and ………helped diagnose the disorder.  Being told what was going on, causing the problem, gave us both hope and with that hope, light and the remembrance of Christ and His love for us.  My husband was giving up hope because he was weak and scared.  I couldn’t give up hope, for it was the one thing that was sustaining me; that and my love for my husband.

Later, because my husband was becoming so weak and susceptible to other illnesses, he underwent a blood transfusion, several cancer screenings and monthly blood checks.  About a year later, he was back on track, his blood level once again normal.  Through it all, Christ sustained us. We didn’t lose hope or faith in God, but we came close. Daily prayer and Bible reading kept us going and on track.  Psalm 91 and Christ’s saying, “I will neither leave you nor forsake you” sustained us day in and day out.  His light of truth, love and hope was constant and comforting.  So, now you can see why Christ and light mean hope to me.

Christ and light mean hope!.
