| “You do it!”
No, you do it!”
“I ain’t gonna give up my meat!
It’s not my fault their hungry
And they don’t have anything to eat!”
That was the end of the conversation
As my friends sat down and ate
Though my conscious wouldn’t let me sit,
I had no clue of my fate.
As I rose to go do it
Through the snickers, laughs, and jeers
I knew life was more important
Than only following after my peers.
My friends got up after me
But only to go back to our hometown
They said I was an embarrassment
And they didn’t want to be seen with a clown
I only had a little bit
And I was hungry like never before
But I gave it all up that day
Never knowing what was in store
The man said, “Have the people sit down”
Before he prayed and broke the bread
And can you believe that on my little lunch
Over five thousand people were fed
But even more than that
And this I’ll never understand
There were twelve baskets full of food
With more than any could hold in their hand
I walked away home with my full belly
Through the fields of flowers and clovers
Only to bump into my hungry friends
Who asked, “Hey, where did you get the leftovers?”
