We all have a comfortable place in our lives. It can be with your
friends, at school, home, a time period in your life, or you pick.
Just think of a place you feel comfortable being at (I feel comfortable
at ___________ and would like to stay there.) Well now lets go back
to a story in the Bible, where it says your boat is a place of harm...
Matthew chapter 14
When Jesus finished feeding the 5000 with 5 loaves of bread and
2 fish, He ordered His disciples to go to a boat and wait for Him
on the other side of the body of water. So they left to the boat
and Jesus prayed on a nearby hill the whole night. (some of us can't
even pray 2 minutes) While the disciples where half-way across the
water a storm struck. the crew was scared they would die. They cried
out to Jesus to save them, so Jesus got up from his place on the
hill, and walked to them.
wait.... if they are in the water and He came to them, won't that
mean He must walk on water?! yes
So as Jesus came near the boat the disciples cried in horror! They
claimed it was a ghost! Jesus saw the panic in there eyes and spoke,"
It is I. Don't be afraid."
Then Peter spoke and said ,"Lord if it is you command me to
come to You."
Jesus said, „Come." (speaking not only to Peter but everyone
on the boat.)
This brings in mind that if you are unsure God is there, just ask
Him and He will answer you.
Peter stepped out of the boat ON TO the water (not in to). Peter
kept His eyes on the Lord and showed faith to his God. Though reality
caught Peter, and Peter looked at his surroundings and started so
sink in the water. Peter spoke saying, „Lord save me!"
Jesus replied, "Why did you doubt, you of little faith?"
Jesus took Peter back to the boat, and all the other disciples said/claiming
He must be the Son of God.
Pause and Reflect...
God told us that he wants us to get OUT of out comfort zone (boat)
and step out in to places we can never be while comfortable. Though
when we finally get to that place of uncomfortable being where Jesus
wants us to be, we look at our surroundings and realize we can't
do that on our own. We sink. then we go back to the place where
Jesus doesn't want us to be (comfort).
Now are you the kind of person willing to take the step of faith
out of your boat and walk out to Jesus, or are you going to stay
in your comfort boat and watch? You decide, because stepping out
will help not just you....but many.
