Day 27
Read: Luke 12:1—12
Pilate didn’t want to do any wrong.
Pilate wanted
to save Jesus.
But he allowed
fear of Caesar to make his decision
for him.
Jesus didn’t
want to die.
Jesus wanted
the cup to pass from Him.
But He allowed
His Father to rule His choice.
“And I
say unto you, my friends, be not afraid of
them that kill
the body and after that have nothing
more they can
do. But I will forewarn you whom ye
shall fear: Fear
Him, which after He hath killed,
hath power to
cast into Hell; yea, I say unto you,
fear Him.”
Whom do you fear? Caesar or God?
If you obey God,
the “worst” that man can do to
you is death.
If you fear what
man can do to you, remember you
still have to
settle with God, who after He hath
killed, hath
power to cast into Hell.
Misplaced fear
is more dangerous than misplaced
trust.
Be sure that the fear that is in you
is directed toward One who is worth
fearing.
The fear of the
Lord is the beginning of wisdom
and the first
step toward loving Him.
Why waste your
fear on puny men when the eye of
the Holy God
is searching your heart and numbering
your days.
