Day 19
Read: Luke 16:19-31
At the moment of your death, when your spirit takes
its departure,
--if it is filled with God’s love, it will
rise to God.
--if it is empty of God’s love, it will sink
to the fires of Hades.
And the Love in you which will lift
you into the Realm of Light
is not a matter of words and
feelings.
It is a matter of how you treat
your brother.
“He that
loveth not his brother abideth in death.”
And the
brother you are to love is not just your
relatives
or your dear friend
but the man who needs you,
the “Lazarus” God lays at your gate.
He may be repulsive.
You may have nothing in common.
Maybe he needs money.
Perhaps she just wants you to sit
and talk with her.
It may be someone in your own home
you’ve begun to take for granted.
This “Lazarus”
who waits by the gate of your life
(in one form
or another) every day
is the test as to whether beneath the purple
and fine linen of your religion you have a
Godly heart. Watch for him today.
