Day 17                 Read: Luke 18:1—17
         
             “Surely God must understand how busy I am!
              God knows I’m tired at night.
              God understands why I can’t pray better.
              He knows what a rushing world this is!”
         
         Yes, God understands....
         He understands so perfectly that the reasons you
         use to excuse yourself grieve Him indeed.
          
        Your good Father understands
             ....that prayerlessness is disobedience.
             ....prayerlessness is inexcusable.
             ....prayerlessness is the most dangerous
                 condition His child can be in.
              ....prayerlessness is spiritual death and
                 must itself die if there is to be      
                 spiritual life.
             ....prayerlessness is sin.
         
         “But how can I overcome my prayerless condition?
          The harder I strain, the worse it becomes!”
         
          Prayerlessness is overcome exactly as any other
          sin:
         
             repent of it...die to it...mortify it!
             and look to Me in faith.
         
         Then I will become your prayer life
              I will send My Spirit into your heart
              I will make prayer the most rewarding
              exercise of your life
                       the climax of every day
                       the light of every hour
                       the victory over every enemy.         
         My child, it is only in prayer that you can know
         Me. It is only as you pray to Me that I can be
         your Refuge and your Defense, your Light and your
         true Peace.
         
         “Watch and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.”
