Day 15
Read: I Corinthians 13
I
know not this man of whom you speak!”
And immediately,
while he yet spoke, the cock crew.
And the Lord
turned and looked upon Peter.
What did Peter see in those eyes of the Lord?
The same compassion he had seen in them
a thousand times before!
Peter’s denial had changed nothing in
Jesus’ heart.
That look of knowing “held” Peter and
saved him from destruction.
When your friend denies you
forsakes
you because he’s afraid to
stick with you in your disgrace,
he’s in a desperate place,
his conscience is accusing him,
his heart is condemning him.
It is within your power to drop him into
an awful abyss, simply by “crossing him
off” as being “no good”.
But before you abandon your faithless
friend to such judgment,
REMEMBER HIM WHOSE FAITHFUL
LOVE HAS “TURNED AND LOOKED
UPON” YOU A THOUSAND TIMES.
It may be that
through your eyes, Christ Jesus will
“turn and
look upon” your friend.
There is no one to whom you owe a greater
obligation in Christ than to that friend
who “let you down”.
